Waking Up Your Wild Creative Soul: A Courage & Renewal Retreat Series

Back by popular request, this Courage & Renewal™ retreat series is offered as a space in which we can explore and nurture our creative spirits, be inspired to try some new things, and learn about ourselves in the process.

A bird is safe in its nest — but that is not what its wings are made for. ~Amit Ray

Back by popular request, this Courage & Renewal™ retreat series is offered as a space in which we can explore and nurture our creative spirits, be inspired to try some new things, and learn about ourselves in the process. With a sense of spaciousness and generativity, we will awaken our imaginations, take some risks, and seek beauty and inspiration in our natural surroundings. We extend a special welcome to those who feel less confident about their ability to express themselves creatively since the focus will be on the process – on life as your art – rather than on finished products or on particular media. You need not see yourself as an “artist” – in fact, we especially welcome those who simply long to infuse their personal and professional lives with creative juice.

Drawing on principles and practices of a Circle of Trust®(COT) and through large group, small group, and solitary reflection, we will explore active creativity, receptive stillness, courageous engagement, and the intersections and tensions that arise as we navigate among these. This series offers the chance to welcome the wellspring of the creative to flow, through diverse and accessible activities, poetry, teaching stories, and engagement with nature. Using the model of a COT, your facilitators offer an invitation to steep in the inner work necessary to invite the muse to surface and to press the ‘reset’ button on the treadmill of busy-ness which often overshadows joyful manifestation.

In this retreat series you will…

  • Tune in with mindful attention to your own creative urges, doubts, and limits.
  • Explore what sustains your creative spirit and loosen some of the constrictions brought on by needing to “do it right.”
  • Take some risks, make some messes, and engage joyfully and playfully.
  • Explore how interactions with the more-than-human world can nurture your creative spirit.
  • Learn principles and practices from our COT approach that can be applied to your daily life and work, helping you stay true to who you are.
  • Connect with others who hope for a renewed sense of courage and creativity in their lives.

Waking Up Your Wild Creative Soul will be grounded in the Circles of Trust® model which you can learn more about in Parker Palmer’s book, A Hidden Wholeness. It is intended for anyone longing to deepen in relationship with creative expression.  All are welcome.
