Larry Freeman
Larry was born in Red Oak, Iowa, and grew up on a farm. Though he enjoyed farming, he wanted a different life for himself. His quest to improve education led to significant achievements at Governors State, where he worked for 19 years, including accreditation of its teacher education program in 2002 by the National Council of Teacher Education. I remember Larry so well as he was a part of the “Midwest” group that included us in Ontario. When we held a group gathering at a retreat centre outside Toronto, I had the good fortune to pick up Larry at the airport. During the drives to and from, and during the gathering itself, I recognized him as an amazingly kind, generous, wise, creative and committed educator and Courage facilitator with a great sense of humour. Even those brief times together left a lasting impression. It is a joy to remember him.
