If you’re 70.5 years or older, you can donate up to $105,000 from your IRA to charities of your choice without having to pay income tax on the donation. Married couples can contribute up to $210,000. The funds must be transferred directly to the charity.
You can choose to designate a portion of all of your Life Insurance or IRA/401 (k) or other retirement plans to a non-profit. It may provide the opportunity to make a larger gift, and heirs benefit as well since both are exempt from estate tax.
