Anita Garcia Morales received her BA and Teaching Degree from the University of Washington. She retired from Seattle Public Schools after 30+ years of teaching students and coaching/mentoring teachers. Anita is a Courage & Renewal Facilitator, a Positive Discipline Certified Associate, and a Class Action Certified Trainer. Through Racing to Equity, a consulting group of which Anita is Co-Founder and Co-Owner, she facilitates anti-bias circles with community groups, students, educators and works with immigrant families who are just learning to navigate the complexities of their newly adopted home. The common thread that runs through all that Anita does is her focus on social justice and equity and her desire to help create more welcoming environments for members of traditionally marginalized groups so that they may thrive more consistently and more successfully.
Anita is on a journey of self-healing from the generational trauma that she, like IBPOC across the country, have inherited and continue to experience. Anita also sees herself as a healer calling up her ancestral gifts and gathers circles of folx on similar paths of healing and liberation. In this work, IBPOC center themselves in their quest to show up in the world more authentically and unapologetically.
