Kirstin is first and foremost, a seeker, a wonderer…on a continuous journey of being and becoming. Her greatest joy is capturing small moments of beauty in one-on-one conversations, the powerful rhythm of a good tune, paradox found in nature, and experimenting in the kitchen with family and friends. Other identities include mother, partner, educator, and Unitarian.
Kirstin is mission driven and a systems thinker, working to support people and organizations who wish to live and lead from a place of integrity and authenticity. She has spent almost 40 years in education; as a teacher, administrator, as a faculty in The School of Education at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WI. Her background and passion for outdoor education led her to The Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee where she served as the Environmental Education Manager before moving to Sisters, OR in 2019.
Kirstin discovered Parker’s book The Courage to Teach in 1998 as a disillusioned middle school administrator. She attended her first Courage to Lead retreat in 2003, as a school administrator. Transformed by this work, she pursued a doctorate focused on Reflective Practice as a form of professional development. She worked with several school districts in the Milwaukee area leading Courage to Teach programming.
Kirstin became a facilitator with the Center for Courage & Renewal since 2014. She leads Circle of Trust retreats in a variety of formats for all those yearning to live an undivided life. Retreats include: The Soul of Aging Series, Living in Alignment (w/yoga), Courage to Teach, and Courage to Lead. In 2022, Kirstin began working with the Center as the Mentor Program Coordinator. She lives in Sisters, Oregon with her wife, Lisa.
Have only one rule: Be your wild, courageous, brilliant self every single day. No matter what.
