Michèle le Roux is a Courage & Renewal facilitator, and has been engaged in this work since 2017. Michèle has nearly 40 years’ experience of working with international students, teaching English Language & Literature and English for Academic Purposes. She has worked in Japan, China, France, Vietnam and Myanmar, as well as at a number of UK universities. She currently divides her time between Derry, Northern Ireland, where she is a Lecturer at Ulster University, and her permanent home in Cumbria in north-west England. Michèle’s research and activism lie in the area of Social Justice in Education, with a focus on practitioner and student wellbeing. She is committed to supporting learners in fragile contexts to access Higher Education and to develop their academic careers: she is a member of the Steering Group of the EAP strand of the Cara (Council for At-risk Academics) Syria Project, and teaches for the Institute of Ismaili Studies. Michèle is also trained in Spiritual Accompaniment and co-facilitates the Refresher Course at the London Centre for Spiritual Direction. She seeks to position herself with integrity at the interface of these several professional identities and to build bridges, trust and community.
