Michael was raised in Missoula and identifies with her Sqelixw (Salish & Pendd’Oreille) and various White backgrounds most. She is a doctoral student in the Indian Leadership Education and Development (I LEAD) program at Montana State University, and currently serves her communities as an instructor of Native American Studies courses and a coordinator for a STEM grant for undergraduate and graduate students at Salish Kootenai College. Michael also serves as secretary and Western Urban Representative for the Montana Indian Education Association. Her passion in life is to work with communities to build their own school systems, which will contribute to academic and life success, leadership, agency and tribal development.
