Richard Shugerman, MD is a pediatric emergency medicine physician, professor of Pediatrics and the Vice Chair for Faculty Development for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital. Richard received his medical degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Medicine and completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Washington. He is a facilitator for the Center for Courage & Renewal. He received the Parker J. Palmer “Courage to Teach Award” from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in 2007, the Robert Holm Award for leadership in residency education from the Association of Pediatric Program Directors in 2009 and the Bruce Gilliland Award for excellence in teaching of residents and fellows from the University of Washington in 2013.
