Liberatory Leadership, Turning to Wonder: A Courage to Lead Retreat for Women

This retreat is designed to help leaders renew their passion, enthusiasm and commitment to themselves and the communities they serve.

This four day and three night retreat is open to those identifying as women who are in leadership, whether formally or informally. As we approach the fullness of summer solstice, the abundance of light and energy can be overwhelming. This retreat is designed for leaders who wish to hold the fullness of this time of year and center their leadership and their lives with courage, integrity and possibility.

This retreat is designed for leaders who wish to imagine the highest possibilities and results for our organizations and communities.  With courage, compassion and creativity we will share practices to hold our current realities, wherever we find ourselves.

Together we will…

  • Pause, embrace silence, and disconnect from technology and our demanding pace of life;
  • Reduce isolation and build communities of care that hold us accountable, provide support in hard times and act as containers for liberatory innovations;
  • Identify reflective practices that increase personal and professional resilience;
  • Learn to ask open-ended questions that help us and others uncover inner wisdom;
  • Expand capacity to be fully present to ourselves and others in ways that affirm and heal;
  • Strengthen our ability to hold paradox, moving beyond either-or thinking into holding opposing truths and complexity;
  • Learn and participate in a Clearness Committee, designed after a powerful problem-solving model from the 1600’s.

We are excited to have you join us in this Circle of Trust® retreat, grounded in the the Courage & Renewal approach, designed to build a trustworthy space for telling our truths and listening to the truths of others.  Past participants have included community organizers, community development professionals, non-profit executives, school leaders, clergy, coaches and other leaders from the nonprofit and corporate sectors. We believe everyone leads.

Your retreat experience will be guided by Dawn Montgomery, a Courage & Renewal facilitator, and Jennifer Wagley, a Courage & Renewal facilitator in preparation. Dawn’s bio appears by clicking below her photo.

Jen Wagley, M Ed, M Div. has facilitated groups since her youth.  She first learned of “Courage” work through Parker Palmer’s book “Let Your Life Speak.”  This book and the unfolding adventure it has led her to has been transformatively delightful.  Encouraging others to live in the place where their deep gladness meets the world’s hunger is one of her passions.  Jenifer serves as Executive Director of Our Children Oregon, an advocacy and organizing non-profit committed to improving child well-being.  She brings almost two decades of experience in leadership, grass-roots power building and community engagement.  She is the Co-Chair for the Partnership for America’s Children, a network for child advocates across the country.  Jen is mom to three boys and loves to hike, coach basketball and build friendships.
