About the Role:

The Communities of Practice Manager plays a central role in helping members of the Courage & Renewal community carry the skills and practices they learn in CCR programs into their everyday lives and work.

This role cultivates communities where members engage in shared learning about the challenges and rewards of applying Courage & Renewal practices in their relationships, leadership, and institutions. Through dialogue, resource-sharing, collaboration, and storytelling, these spaces help people strengthen their ability to remain grounded under pressure, navigate complex relationships with care, and act with clarity and integrity in alignment with their values.

The Communities of Practice Manager stewards CCR’s online community platform, coordinates programming and shares content that supports peer learning and collaboration, and nurtures leadership within the community so members increasingly support and sustain connections and growth.

Working closely with colleagues across programs, communications, strategy, and development, this role helps ensure CCR’s community remains vibrant, connected, and actively engaged in bringing these values and practices into the world.

This is a US-based, full-time remote position requiring less than 20% travel for events and meetings. Because of our global community, occasional work outside typical office hours may be required. The starting salary range is $70,000 – $75,000 with benefits that include medical, dental, vision, life/disability insurance, retirement matching, paid time off, paid family leave, wellness support, and opportunities for personal and professional development.


Core Responsibilities Include:

Shared Learning & Community Engagement
– Foster meaningful relationships among members through dialogue, collaboration, and peer exchange.
– Encourage members to share experiences, challenges, and breakthroughs as they apply these ideas in their contexts.
– Invite and uplift storytelling within the community, encouraging members to share how Courage & Renewal principles are shaping their work and lives.
– Surface insights and themes emerging from community conversations that can inform CCR’s broader learning ecosystem.

Programming & Content:
– Coordinate virtual gatherings, discussions, and collaborative learning opportunities that explore how Courage & Renewal practices are being applied in members’ lives and work.
– Curate content and resources that support members navigating the complexity of integrating these ideas personally and professionally.
– Extend insights from CCR programs and events into ongoing community learning opportunities.

Online Platform Stewardship
– Facilitate conversations and interactions on the platform that encourage thoughtful dialogue and peer learning.
– Cultivate a welcoming and active online environment where members feel comfortable sharing questions, insights, and experiences.
– Monitor engagement patterns and identify opportunities to strengthen participation and improve user experience.
– Collaborate with staff and technology partners to guide the platform’s evolution and ensure it supports the needs of CCR’s communities of practice.

Membership Growth
– Strengthen member registration, onboarding, and retention.
– Collaborate with communications and program teams to clarify pathways for people to enter and deepen their involvement in CCR’s communities.
– Gather feedback and track engagement trends to inform strategy and tell a data-informed story about the growth and impact of CCR’s membership community.

Leadership Development & Support
– Identify and nurture emerging leaders who can help convene conversations and support shared learning within specific communities.
– Equip members with the tools and confidence to facilitate gatherings and engage community members via our online platform.
– Strengthen CCR’s leadership ecosystem by helping “organize the organizers” who contribute to the community’s growth.

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
– Build authentic relationships with members who demonstrate a strong connection to CCR’s mission and community.
– Collaborate with CCR’s development team to identify opportunities for members to deepen their financial support of the organization.
– Share insights about emerging champions, connectors, and potential supporters within the community.

– Community members increasingly step into leadership roles, sustaining the community themselves.
– Some members deepen their commitment to CCR’s mission through advocacy, leadership, and financial support.


Key Skills & Qualifications

This role is ideal for someone energized by cultivating learning communities and helping people connect ideas to real-world leadership and relationships. The right candidate is both relational and organized — someone who enjoys bringing people together around shared questions, facilitating meaningful dialogue, and supporting others as they explore how Courage & Renewal practices show up in their lives and work. They are comfortable engaging communities through online platforms and digital tools, using them to spark conversation, encourage participation, and sustain connection between gatherings. Candidates should also have:

– 5+ years of experience in community engagement, membership programs, network leadership, or related fields, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
– Experience cultivating communities of practice, learning communities, or peer learning networks.
– Strong facilitation and relational leadership skills with the ability to guide thoughtful dialogue around complex challenges.
– Experience managing or engaging communities through digital platforms (such as Circle, Mighty Networks, Slack, or similar tools).
– Ability to design gatherings and collaborative learning experiences that foster connection and shared insight.
– Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
