An estimated 90 armed conflicts plague our world according to warwatch.ch. Faced with these unsettling realities, people feel helpless, paralyzed, only able to survive or turn a blind eye in response. In times like these, it can help to be and to walk together. In Switzerland, there is a Trail of Peace, the Brother Klaus Trail, that runs 17 kilometres from Stans, Nidwalden to the Flueli Ranft, Obwalden. On June 6, 2026 from 14:45 – 22:00 you are invited to join us – physically or virtually – as we walk to honour our world and the peace we seek to promote and protect.
The walk is inspired by the Courage & Renewal approach, which helps us to choose, actively and intentionally, to nurture ways of being with ourselves and one another that act against the violent, oppressive forces that create personal and societal division. By walking together for peace, we embody the Courage & Renewal values of Courage, Love, Hope, Integrity and Community. Both for those walking the path in Switzerland and for those joining online, there will be pauses to listen to short readings (third things) in English, French and German, time to reflect using some prompt questions, and then the opportunity to share in small groups (in your preferred language). The rhythm of a Circle of Trust will thus be integrated with the rhythm of our footsteps as we walk the path of peace together.

“Ultimately, we have just one moral duty: to reclaim large areas of peace in ourselves, more and more peace, and to reflect it towards others. And the more peace there is in us, the more peace there will also be in our troubled world.” — Etty Hillesum, Netherlands, 1914–1943
The Peace Walk was developed by Christina Sasaki and Thomas Walliman (both of whom are currently in facilitator preparation with the Center for Courage & Renewal.)

Christina: speaks English, Swiss German
Profile: As a soul companion, consultant, facilitator, and innovator with over 25 years of experience in coordinating community projects and educational events, she is a project person who enjoys listening to the unspoken, creating space for dialogue and for co-creating a better world. She sees herm\ vocation as bringing “inclusivity and the soul” to practical contexts such as: life long learning for hospital chaplains, community gardens as spaces for refugees, editing a quarterly social justice magazine, to a current project – building a community grocery store, which actively supports older adults, families and children. She has had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Courage and Renewal Foundations and Practicum Programs and is currently in the Facilitator Preparation Program.

Thomas: speaks Swiss German, German, English, French
As director of the social ethics institute «ethik22» for over 25 years, Thomas Wallimann sees his vocation as an intermediary of hope and catalyst for the co-creation of a better world. His work focuses on social ethics (how systems and structures work or not), where he invites his students and listeners (to lectures, weekly live radio program, speeches and writings) to let their life speak, identify their core values and bring these values to the task of co-creating a better world. Thomas has completed the Foundations and Practicum as well as the Mentoring Programs with the Center for Courage & Remewal.
