Dr. Gloria J. Burgess has been a friend of Courage work for many years. She is currently a facilitator & serves on the Center’s board. An inspirational speaker and award-winning poet & author, Gloria shares her triumph over extreme poverty, racism, & sexism by equipping others to do the same. A former executive in IT, human services, & philanthropy, Gloria is Founder & Executive Director of The Lift Every Voice Foundation, & President & CEO of Jazz, Inc., a leadership development firm: she is blessed to partner with divers organizations & nations, including AT&T, Boeing, Microsoft, Starbucks, MSNBC, Casey Family Programs, Harborview Hospital, Providence Heath Care System, Kenya’s National Parliament, & South African Embassy. Gloria’s recent book—Pass It On!—is about gratitude, courage, faith, vision, love, perseverance, & generosity of spirit.
