Sophia Lloyd

Sophia Lloyd is deeply committed to the work of Courage & Renewal, guided by the belief, articulated by Parker Palmer, that tending to our inner lives makes us more available for the outer work the world asks of us. She is drawn to the quiet, intentional work of holding spaces where people can pause, reflect, and listen deeply to themselves and to one another. Her facilitation is marked by care and authenticity, and by a genuine call to accompany those who seek a fuller, more honest engagement with the human experience, especially at the intersection of the spiritual journey and inner work.

With over 30 years of executive-level experience in the nonprofit, faith-based, and public sectors, Sophia has designed and led multi-generational, interfaith, and cross-disciplinary programs throughout her career. These experiences ground her capacity to steward groups with attentiveness and humility. She honors the wisdom carried within each individual voice, while also tending the wisdom that emerges when people gather and listen together in community.

Following her tenure as Executive Director of Sylvania Community Services, Sophia listened for a deeper call and completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education at a level-one trauma hospital, shaping her ability to remain present in moments of vulnerability and profound transition. She now serves as Director of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care at St. Clare Commons, part of the CommonSpirit Health System.

An apprentice facilitator with the Center for Courage & Renewal, Sophia holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, which informs her understanding of resilience and compassionate accompaniment. Her certifications in Organizational Development, Franciscan Studies, and Death Doula training further support her work—offering practical tools for group processes, a contemplative grounding in tradition, and a deep respect for life’s thresholds. Together, these experiences shape her presence as a facilitator committed to integrity, inner listening, and courageous living.
