“The business of stories is not enchantment.
The business of stories is not escape.
The business of stories is waking up.”
~Martin Shaw
As we stand on the threshold of a new beginning, we ask, what stories are you waking up to?
We welcome you to a three-day gathering, offering an opportunity to explore with other men a range of themes to do with carrying maleness in our current times.
Based on a combination of storytelling, myth, poetry, the writing of Parker J. Palmer, and the principles and practices of the Circle of Trust ® approach, we will consider how we are finding our path. We will look both back over our shoulders to times past, and then ahead to how we want to be as a man.
Themes to take time with will include:
What it means to be a man in today’s families, professional teams, and in communities.
Reflecting on the many ways in which we have made sense of ourselves as men, whatever stage we are in on our journey.
The opportunity to explore the kinds of courage it takes to risk love as a central commitment in our lives.
The gathering will be led by Giles Barrow and Will Johnson, who are part of the newly formed European network of emerging Courage & Renewal facilitators-in-training, both based in East Anglia.
