Conversations with a Garden: Discovering Earth’s Timeless Lessons for Wise Living

What can we learn from a garden? In this monthly program series we will lean in, listen, and linger over its lessons, such as enjoying the fullness of abundance, allowing the leaves to fall, setting boundaries, reciprocity, connection, finding deep rest, and more.

Do we really need much more than this? To honor the dawn. To visit a garden. To talk to a friend. To contemplate a cloud. To cherish a meal. To bow our heads before the mystery of the day. Are these not enough?

~ Kent Nerburn

How might we adjust the pace of our lives to be more in sync with the pace of the natural world? The inspiration for wholeness and its lessons are within reach – in fact, as close as the nearest patch of joyful flowers. Gardens are both physical places of connection and insight, and spaces within our hearts, too. Each can be rich, diverse, with healthy soil and an abundance of nutrients, color and life – if we attend to them wisely and well.

This online monthly program series offers the chance to come together to find out what we can discover when we turn down the distractions and tune into the natural world. Plants have a wisdom that is palpable when we take the time to lean in and learn from them. In large and small groups, and through poetry, reflection, creative expression and sensory feasting, we will engage in the inner work necessary to allow truer, wilder relationships to surface and press the reset button on the treadmill of busy-ness which often overshadows our rapport with the natural world – and with ourselves.

We will use North American seasonal references throughout this series. You may occasionally be invited to print a page to avoid excessive screen sharing.

Conversations with a Garden will be grounded in the Courage & Renewal® approach which you can learn more about in Parker J. Palmer’s book, A Hidden Wholeness. It is intended for anyone longing to deepen in relationship with this beautiful earth and grow from its teachings.  All are welcome.
