Sitting in the Midst of It All

Join us for a two-day poetry mini-retreat as we pause to sit in the midst of our lives, connect with others here, and find a way into “OK-ness” with all that life offers us currently.

Today the miracle is to sit
in the sunlit room and be
in the sunlit room,
to be here and only here,
here in the bountiful silence,
here in the shifting shadows,
here in the hands of midwinter…

Excerpt from Apricity, by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer

December can be blur, a time of rushing headlong toward the holidays and into the new year.  Here amid the fullness of this season, it is also a wonderful time to sit with our lives. We invite you to join us for this mini-retreat to push the pause button, slow down, and explore what is here.

What is alive, difficult, interesting, joyful, puzzling, confusing, exciting…? Real?

In this two-day retreat, we will nurture a trustworthy space to welcome an exploration of whatever is most potent and poignant for you – whatever may be arising, emerging and significant.  Through the Courage & Renewal approach and through poetry writing and exploration, this offering invites you to connect with yourself and others – to slow down, reflect and notice, while experiencing poetry through the gateways of listening, reading, creative writing, imagination, and shared exploration. With the discoveries we make, we can then consider what wants to be celebrated, released, healed and/or probed further.

Sitting in the Midst of It All will be grounded in the Courage & Renewal® approach which you can learn more about in Parker J. Palmer’s book, A Hidden Wholeness. All are welcome.

Marcia Eames-Sheavly and poet-teacher-storyteller Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer will cofacilitate this unique mini-retreat experience.

Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer lives with her husband and daughter in Placerville, Colorado, on the
banks of the wild and undammed San Miguel River. She served as San Miguel County’s first poet
laureate (2007-2011) and as Western Slope Poet Laureate (2015-2017) and was a finalist for Colorado
Poet Laureate in 2019.

Devoted to helping others explore creative practice, Rosemerry is co-host of Emerging Form, a podcast
on creative process, co-founder of Secret Agents of Change (a surreptitious kindness cabal), and co-
leader of Soul Writers Circle. She directed the Telluride Writers Guild for ten years and co-hosted
Telluride’s Talking Gourds Poetry Club for another ten years.

A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required with registration, with the balance to be provided by December 1, 2023.

Prior to November 15, 2023, program fee can be refunded less the non-refundable fee. After November 22, 2023, no refunds can be granted.
