This three day retreat will offer time, space, and creative processes for leaders who wish to ground themselves in the natural world, reflect on their personal and professional realities, and imagine ways of creating something different for themselves and those who rely on their leadership.
This program is being independently organized and led by a Courage & Renewal Facilitator(s) prepared by the Center for Courage & Renewal. While we support our facilitators in various ways, CCR has no direct responsibility for the planning or facilitation of this event. As leaders in schools, organizations, and communities, we are called to envision new ways of learning, leading, and discovering the possibilities amidst the chaos we face.
This three day retreat will offer time, space, and creative processes for leaders who wish to ground themselves in the natural world, reflect on their personal and professional realities, and imagine ways of creating something different for themselves and those who rely on their leadership.
Together we will access imagination, artistic expression, and other contemplative practices to envision and embody compassionate, ethical & equitable leadership. We will build a trustworthy space for telling our truths and listening to the truths of others while exploring our inner sources of leadership.
Participants in this retreat will:
– Identify ways that race, gender and other identities inform our understanding of self and others, and how they influence our ability to build trusting relationships across differences.
– Recognize justice, equity and liberatory practices as organizational essentials which demand a willingness to question power, and the courage to step into dissonance, opposition or conflict.
– Look at organizations as a living system, and appreciate lessons of growth, decline, renewal, and resiliency offered by the natural world.
– Consider emergent strategy as a way of imagining and guiding our growth toward the future we long for
– Participate in a Clearness Committee designed after a problem-solving model from the 1600’s, and integrate old wisdom and new science.
Who is this retreat for?
Courage to Lead® is open to those in leadership from diverse fields. While many of us are not ‘leaders’ in a formal sense, we are called to lead on a regular basis. This retreat is open to those interested in exploring and strengthening their leadership within their organization, family, or community.
This program is co-facilitated by Courage & Renewal Facilitator Dawn Montgomery alongside Shauna Adams, LCSW whose work has been about people and the relationships we have with ourselves and each other.
