jeewan chanicka is currently the Director of the Waterloo Region District School Board in Ontario, Canada. He is the former Superintendent of Equity, Anti-Racism & Anti-Oppression and Superintendent of Schools in Canada’s largest school district – Toronto District School Board. He is a teacher by training with a background in the social/community work field and has been a community organizer around various issues of social, racial & environmental justice. He has lived in multiple countries around the world including in North America, Caribbean, Middle East, speaks different languages and has many adventure stories. He has been drawn to Circles of Trust work because of his belief for the need to hold space in a way that supports difficult, brave conversations and healing work necessary for us to create the world we want to live in.
