Finding Hope in the Storm: A Circle of Trust® Retreat

We all face storms in our lives. Some pass quickly; some stay with us for a long time. How are you faring during the present storm that we and the rest of the world are in? Where do you find hope in the storm?

“Most of the time we cannot change the circumstances that bring about a storm, but we can change how we respond to the storm.” ~Terry Lyles, The Secret to Navigating Life’s Storms

We all face storms in our lives. Some pass quickly; some stay with us for a long time. How are you faring during the present storm that we and the rest of the world are in? What has changed for you either positively or negatively? What has sustained you over the last couple of years? Where do you find hope in the storm?

What to Expect
• Be in solitude yet part of an online community.
• Embrace and welcome stillness.
• Acquire a better understanding of how to listen deeply and be fully present.
• Learn to ask open and honest questions.
• Experience a Clearness Committee, based on the Quaker tradition.

In our three half-day sessions, you will have the opportunity for personal reflection in whatever way you are comfortable. Your reflections will be grounded in your own personal experience and enhanced by poetry, music, artist, storytellers. In our one-day session, you will experience a Clearness Committee. During our time together, you will gather in the large group, small groups and in solitude, and all conversations will be held in strict confidence.
You will need to be in a location in which you can be uninterrupted during our sessions. There will be screen breaks and time for lunch on our full day.

This retreat is based on the work of Parker J. Palmer and the Center for Courage & Renewal. The Circle of Trust® approach, described in Palmer’s book A Hidden Wholeness, focuses on cultivating our inner capacity to live a more authentic, meaningful, and engaged life.

You are welcome to participate if you are new to Circle of Trust® work or have previously participated in retreats.
