“All the arts we practice are apprenticeship. The big art is our life.”
~ M.C. Richards
While this retreat is intended for anyone who is interested in creativity, we extend a special welcome to those who feel less confident about their ability to express their creative self. The focus of this retreat will be on paying attention as we engage in the process of creation, rather than on the finished “product” itself. We offer a welcoming home for anyone who wants to (re)connect with their creative urges.
Drawing on principles and practices of a Circle of Trust® and through large group, small group, and solitary reflection, we will explore active creativity and receptive stillness, as well as the intersections and tensions that arise as we navigate among these. We will invite you to be with others as we each engage in the inner work necessary to welcome the muse into our lives and to press the ‘reset’ button on the treadmill of busy-ness which often overshadows joyful manifestation.
In this retreat you will…
- Tune in with mindful attention to your own creative urges and doubts.
- Explore what nurtures (and depletes) creativity.
- Take some risks, make some mistakes, and engage joyfully and playfully.
- Explore how interactions with the more-than-human world can nurture your creative spirit.
- Learn principles and practices from our Courage & Renewal approach that can be applied to your daily life and work, helping you stay true to who you are.
- Connect with others who hope for a renewed sense of courage and creativity in their lives.
The Art of Paying Attention: A Wild Creative Soul retreat will be grounded in the Courage & Renewal® approach which you can learn more about in Parker J. Palmer’s book, A Hidden Wholeness. It is intended for anyone longing to deepen in relationship with creative expression. All are welcome.
