The Lenten journey is an invitation to go deeper, to listen to your soul more closely. The ministry of the preacher is to spark a live encounter between people and scripture, or more importantly, between people and the Divine. But how often is sermon preparation grounded in a vital live encounter for the preacher themself?
You are invited to join with a supportive and encouraging company of preachers this Lent. Using the practices and principles of Circles of Trust, members will make trustworthy space for a live encounter. Each gathering will be grounded in the lectionary readings for the week. There will be time for silence and solitude, as well as the practice of listening each other into speech. The focus is not on coming to agreement on the “right” answer, or gathering for preaching tips. Rather it is to nurture what is alive each week for each participant. Perhaps that aliveness will overflow to those to whom you preach!
Each 2 hour gathering will include:
- An introduction to Circle of Trust practices that empower deep listening.
- Engagement with scripture selections from the Revised Common Lectionary.
- Silence and solitude for personal reflection.
- Community sharing that invites each participants’ unique spark of inspiration to show up.
Participation is limited to twelve participants.
