Opening the Voice of Courage: A Circle of Trust® retreat to open Expression, Joy, and Connection

Barbara McAfee and Dianne Baker will lead participants in a journey of vocal play, silence, oral tradition community singing, movement and reflection to explore the wild and wide nature of our voices, and the things that impede us from using our full voice in the world.

What would it be like to open your voice from the soles of your feet and the seat of your soul?
What gifts does your voice hold for you and for the world?

Your voice is the path for your truth to enter the world.
Join us to discover new ways to speak, sing and embody your soul’s unique message.

Barbara and Dianne will lead participants in a journey of vocal play, silence, oral tradition community singing, movement and reflection to explore the wild and wide nature of our voices, and the things that impede us from using our full voice in the world.

The retreat will be bounded by the principles of Circle of Trust, with both safety and invitation to step into deep reflection and sharing, as a means of letting your soul speak and sing its truth.

While there will be many invitations to sing, no prior singing experience is necessary to enjoy this retreat.

The weekend will also offer times for open song circles, silent hikes, practicing care for the earth at Kirkridge and ample rest.  Join us for this feast of sound, song, trust and play.

Dianne will be joined by Barbara McAfee, a master voice coach, singer/ songwriter, community song leader and author of Full Voice: The Art and Practice of Vocal Presence. She lives on the St Croix River in northwest Wisconsin.

This retreat is based on the work of Parker J. Palmer and the Center for Courage & Renewal. The Circle of Trust approach, described in Palmer’s book A Hidden Wholeness, focuses on cultivating our inner capacity to live a more authentic, meaningful, and engaged life.

This program begins with dinner at 5:30 pm on Thursday evening and ends with lunch on Sunday.  A bagged lunch will be available for people who need to leave immediately following the close of the program.

The Kirkridge Study and Retreat Center (www.kirkridge.org) is in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania on beautiful lands with many places for gentle walking and vigorous hiking. We will spend time outdoors, so please bring appropriate footwear and clothing.  There will be an opportunity for ‘Earth Care’ practices, so bring gardening gloves, if you wish.

$475.00 US.  Includes room (single occupancy) and board and registration.  If you wish to share a room with a particular person, please have both parties indicate the name of the roommate. There is one room available with a double bed; all other rooms have twin beds.

(Consider paying $550.00 to support the participation of folks for whom this fee is too expensive.  We will offer some bursaries, and your contribution will help!)
