“Community is a place where the connections felt in our hearts make themselves known in the bonds between people, and where the tugging and pulling of those bonds keep opening our hearts” – Parker Palmer.

On this Bounce Travels retreat, you will be inspired by the mystery and magic of the scenic landscapes and cultural richness of the Santa Fe area in New Mexico. The secret places of Santa Fe’s mountains, ancient ruins, and canyons invite a personal call to bravery…bravery to stand for what is important for your life. No matter what your level of physical or emotional fitness, you are welcome on this active retreat.

During this adventure, expert facilitators provide daily sessions inspired by the Center for Courage & Renewal, Brené Brown’s The Daring Way™ programs, as well as research from other thought leaders on spiritual and emotional wellbeing. These retreat sessions are interactive, fun, and insightful. You’ll work hard, be challenged, and leave feeling capable of tackling new opportunities.

After the adventure, take the opportunity to participate in the World Famous Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.  This Fiesta will start the very next day after our retreat ends, so be sure to book an extra day or two after the retreat in Albuquerque!

Day 1 (Saturday)– Arrive in Albuquerque, NM

Albuquerque’s name means “white oak” an appropriate symbol as the gateway to some of America’s most unique and beautiful landscape and history.  Typically used to construct oak barrels for aging wine, the white oak is also an appropriate analogy as a container for personal transformation.  Plan to arrive any time on this day, and if you arrive early enough, take in Albuquerque’s museums and “old town” or hike one of the three local canyons with over 700 petroglyphs carved onto rocks by Native Americans and Spanish settlers 400 to 700 years ago. Also, be sure to try one of New Mexico’s favorite hatch chile dishes while you’re here.

The retreat will begin at 8am the next morning.

Tonight we are staying in Albuquerque at a hotel near the airport.

Day 2

Morning educational sessions are about creating a brave space to do the heartfelt work of this retreat. along with a deep dive into gratitude.  We leave Albuquerque after our breakfast together and travel to our hotel in Santa Fe via a comfortable passenger van where we will meet for our afternoon retreat educational session on the power of relationships and mindset on our lives.  That evening we will have dinner together near the Santa Fe Plaza, a National Historic Landmark.

Tonight we check into the Inn of the Governors where we’ll be staying all week while in Santa Fe. A made-to-order breakfast is included.

Day 3

Morning educational sessions will be on creating space in our busy life – how to get clear on our values and set boundaries and allow for a new story of meaning and purpose to arise. Beautiful and mysterious Bandelier National Park with its ancient Pueblo ruins and waterfall is on our agenda today following our morning breakfast and session.  Travel the Pueblo Loop trail and peer into long abandoned houses and ceremonial kivas while gazing at petroglyphs before climbing the wooden ladders to the ceremonial Alcove House 140 feet above the canyon floor.  Then wander along Falls Trail through pine trees and past tent rocks to arrive at the Frijole Creek waterfall.  Here there is evidence of human habitation going back 11,000 years.

Tonight we will stay at the Inn of the Governors in Santa Fe. Breakfast included.

Day 4

Morning educational sessions will focus on perfectionism, grief and forgiveness.  Today we’ll travel to Ghost Ranch following our morning sessions. Ghost Ranch is a special place. Artist Georgia O’Keefe made her home there and painted much of the countryside.  Ghost Ranch’s multicolored canyons and cliffs are also home to quarries where you can get up close and personal with the Triassic dinosaur, Coelophysis.  This unique place offers several marvelous trails from which to choose.

Tonight we will stay at the Inn of the Governors in Santa Fe. Breakfast included.

Day 5

Morning educational sessions will use clearness committees to focus on how to create the life you desire. Next, we’ll travel to Pecos National Historic Park where you will walk trails through the ancient city of Cicuye (Pecos) Pueblo, known as the “village of 500 warriors.” Here you may descend into kivas, or ceremonial pits, and catch a glimpse of Native American spirituality. The most dominant feature is the remains of the Spanish Mission, Nuestra Senora de los Angeles de Porciuncula de los Pecos, a 17 th century standing, but long abandoned mission. Pecos was visited by the famous, and infamous, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado in 1540.

Next, back in Santa Fe, those wanting to stretch their culture muscles will have an opportunity to visit the popular Meow Wolf, an underground art collective. Self-described as a “living being,” Meow Wolf is comprised of the talents of hundreds of artists and storytellers from all over who collaboratively create new immersive worlds to explore. As an alternate plan, you may choose instead to visit museums in the Santa Fe downtown area such as Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, New Mexico Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, and New Mexico History Museum to create your own immersive art experience.

Tonight we will stay at the Inn of the Governors in Santa Fe. Breakfast included.

Day 6

Morning educational sessions will focus on transitions and continue to hone the vision for your new life with more meaning, purpose, and joy.  This morning, after our breakfast and morning session, we will be hiking on one of the area’s favorite trails in the foothills over Santa Fe.  The Chamisa trail is a 4.5-mile out-and-back trail offering amazing views of both the surrounding wilderness and the city of Santa Fe.  You will take in gorgeous pines and look over the valleys below.  Back home you’ll have time to enjoy the late afternoon in Santa Fe. Consider walking the famous “artist” street of Canyon Road.

Tonight, we’ll be having a special celebratory dinner together.

Tonight we will stay at the Inn of the Governors in Santa Fe. Breakfast and Dinner included

Day 7 (Friday)

We’ll have a final morning session to equip you to go home and implement the changes you desire, then drive to Albuquerque. The drive will take one hour. We will arrive back at the airport by 11:30am.  The Annual Albuquerque Balloon Festival starts this day, and we strongly suggest extending your stay for a couple more days to take in this iconic bucket list event.
