Higher education is experiencing unprecedented challenges, including low enrollments, attacks on DEIJ initiatives, cutting of research dollars, silencing of dissent, and hiring freezes. These and other forces inside and outside higher education are leaving many faculty, staff, and administrators wondering what is left of the work they love and have committed their heart’s energy to. At the same time, spiritual traditions, the poets, academic communities of hope, and the natural world offer ways to find hope and the creation of places of renewal and rest. This Community Connection experience for higher education faculty, administrators, and staff will invite participants to slow down, move into a space of contemplation, be together in community, and consider ways of turning the raggedness of our personal and professional life into wings of restoration of the call to heal and serve others.
