You are invited to reconnect with your authentic story and renew inner peace amidst life transitions. Set on Bowen Island at beautiful Rivendell Retreat Centre, the program utilizes yoga movement, breath practices and soulful self inquiry from the Courage & Renewal approach, including Clearness Committees for discernment, rooting practices, and creative intention-setting.
This program is being independently organized and led by a Courage & Renewal Facilitator(s) prepared by the Center for Courage & Renewal. Do you feel pulled in a million directions?
Uneasy and anxious?
Distracted by technology and the ever-increasing pace of life?
Perhaps you are facing a major life transition?
Do you need direction and clarity?
This is your invitation to breathe, reset and find your time to deeply rest.
Imagine a meaningful five days and four nights on beautiful Bowen Island. Reconnect to the deeper life within you. Reclaim your peace.
The Rooted and Rising Retreat is a transformative invitation: designed to foster a renewal of connection to inner self and your authentic story.
Nestled in Rivendell Centre in the ocean landscape of the Gulf Islands (near Vancouver, BC), and held in the loving support of friends, these days together combine practices that unearth inner wisdom and guidance. We will use guided yoga movement, breath practice, poetry, and supportive sharing circles. In sharing a disciplined set of agreements, we will explore rooting practices, healing our bodies, and exploring the inner landscape of our lives. Revision your passions. Set creative intentions for the future.
Come home to yourself, grounded in your reality. Be ready to rise!
During the retreat, you will experience the Clearness Committee: a discernment process arising from the early Quakers. In this process a person who longs for insight – transitional, vocational, relational, or spiritual – has an opportunity to be the “focus person” while a prepared “committee” of others listens, records and asks open questions.
There will be nourishing, healthy meals, ample time for solitude, movement, rest by a crackling fire, reflection, journal writing, compassionate conversation alongside opportunities for explorations in the island’s winter energy.
Your guides are Dan and Robyn Hines.
Dan was mentored by the Quaker activist Parker J. Palmer and the Center for Courage & Renewal. He has facilitated life giving experiences for thousands of participants in the lineage of Circle of Trust. In these wise spaces, there is a trustworthy and brave space of attention, imagination, and confidential conversations.
Robyn is a RYT 500HR Yoga Facilitator. After decades of explorative yoga, the grounding and calm she found piqued her curiosity and she embarked upon a series of yoga teacher trainings to expand and deepen her knowledge and understanding. She is a strong proponent of a health-filled lifestyle: sound nutrition, weights along with high intensity exercise, quality sleep and an active lifestyle in nature. She enjoys guiding gentle hatha flow, yin, nidra and restorative yoga, meditation and breathwork.
Experience the tranquility of waking up to the soothing smells and sounds of the forest and the crackling fire in our common space.
Start your day with a warm coffee as you make your way to morning meditation in our gathering space.
Enjoy revitalizing morning yoga, allowing your heart and body to guide you, followed by a delicious brunch crafted from local organic ingredients.
Throughout the rest of the morning, engage in self-inquiry and a guided practice of awareness and journalling. Explore the trails or simply relax with a book in a cozy couch as you gaze on the forest and mountains beyond.
Gather for gentle evening movement and savor another warm delicious meal as the sun sets from your dining table.
Cherish the depth of conversation with new friends or the peaceful quiet of the forest evening.
Finally, your cozy bed awaits you for another restful night and another day in our forest retreat.
Aware of the spiritual longings of the world, Rivendell offers places of retreat for all who seek spiritual renewal, respite and growth. Rivendell is a community rooted in Christian contemplative practice and inspired by the values of love, healing and justice.
Set atop the highest point on the island, find inspiration in the vistas of snow covered mountains and the energy of the Salish Sea.
Our retreat will be in the main lodge and we will also use the sacred chapel space for meditation and breathwork.
Located close to Vancouver BC and a short ferry trip from Horseshoe Bay Terminal.
