Writing into Presence: Reflective Practices for Courageous Leadership

Reflective practices nurture our capacity to lead courageously from the integrity of our whole selves. Join us in this Courage & Renewal® weekend immersion where we will explore writing in multiple forms as well as other creative expressions to support connection with the heart and soul that sustains our capacity to live and lead with presence, creativity, and hope.

Where do you feel called to create new possibilities in your life, community, or leadership?

What role does reflective practice have in your leadership now?

Is there a writing, creative or nature-based practice that you’d like to nurture with intention to support your life and leadership?

How do we make space for our inner experience while staying connected to creativity and hope during uncertain and challenging times?

True leadership is an act of integrity—a bridge between our deepest personal values and the public work of social change. Wherever your work may be, in a classroom, the therapy room, a grassroots movement, a family, an organization, leadership for social change begins with the courage to lead from the heart.

During this retreat, ample time will be offered for writing, including wandering on the beautiful campus grounds at Lewis & Clark. Writing will be approached as a personal contemplative practice, not a craft or skill to be mastered or critiqued.

Together we will explore reflective practice for courageous leadership through:

  • Writing and reflecting in nature
  • Exploring the skills of Presencing and strategies of Hope
  • Expanding our capacity to be present with what is, and learn skills for responding in life-giving ways
  • Engaging curiosity and open honest questions as a way to deepen our writing practice and gain clarity around issues in our lives
