Inviting the Winter In: A Solstice Gathering

Join us for a winter solstice gathering to slow down and connect with our inner selves and one another.

The holiday season has a way of drawing us out of our cozy homes and into holiday parties and shopping malls, busying ourselves with making lists and plans. We may find ourselves carried through the month from one event to another, one task to the next, perhaps surrounded by the sounds of celebration and gatherings, or the echos of loneliness and grief that sometimes accompany us during holiday seasons. Before we know it, we can end up into the new year without realizing where the time has gone. Outside, the world slows down, the darkness gets longer, the air cools and quiets, the land goes dormant and rests.

This 2-hour online gathering is an invitation to slow down and create some quiet space within ourselves to reflect on the wisdom of the season before it slips away.

As author Cole Arthur Riley says, “…the metaphorical and literal darkness of the season feels particularly palpable this year. As winter comes and the days get shorter, and the night begins to stretch on, we make space for a season of darkness. We grant ourselves permission to tell the truth about the terrors of the dark—our collective fear, despair even. But we also reclaim the dark as a sacred site. The darkness of the womb. A time of formation, and mystery, and rest. We slow down. We keep silence. We remember the darkness can also be a harbor.”

Join us for a Circle of Trust® to invite the winter in, a solstice gathering to slow down, keep silence, and reclaim the harbor of darkness as a place for connection, rest, and formation.

We are offering this event on a sliding scale, please consider what cost aligns with your current ability. We are also offering payment in two currencies – Canadian or American.

$60, or $40, or $20 CAD

$45, or $30, or $15 USD

Based on the work of The Sliding Scale: A Tool of Economic Justice by Alexis J. Cunningfolk you might consider the following in your decision making:

The highest dollar cost reflects the true cost of the event:

I am comfortably able to meet all of my basic* needs

I may have some debt but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs

I own my home or property OR I rent a higher-end property

I own or lease a car

I am employed or do not need to work to meet my needs

Middle of the Scale reflects our acknowledgement that paying the full cost would prevent some folks from being able to attend:

I may stress about meeting my basic needs but still regularly achieve them

I may have some debt but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs

I am employed

The bottom cost represents folks who may be experiencing economic inequity. You are loved, valued, and worthy to experience a full life of joy, happiness, and community regardless of your income:

I frequently stress about meeting basic needs & don’t always achieve them

I have debt and it sometimes prohibits me from meeting my basic needs

I rent lower-end properties or have unstable housing

I do not have a car and/or have limited access to a car but I am not always able to afford gas

I am unemployed or underemployed

If you are unable to afford any of these options, please reach out to us to discuss.
