Imagine entering a welcoming space for all that is in your heart; your joys, frustration, fears, and wonderings. Join fellow educators to explore the connections between this month’s Courage Connect theme of “community” and your work as an educator. In The Courage to Teach (2007), Parker Palmer writes, “Community is an outward and visible sign of an inward and invisible grace, the flowing of personal identity and integrity into the world of relationships.”
As an educator, I offer a few questions for your reflection:
- What does it mean to you to “be in community”? What does it look like?
- How does your school/classroom culture create and/or support a sense of community?
- How might you nurture a sense of community in your school/classroom that is more life-giving?
These community gatherings for educators will be offered each month, typically during the 3rd or 4th week of the month.
