There is an eternal landscape, a geography of the soul;
we search for its outlines all our lives.
~Josephine Hart
It is said that the one constant is change. Whether slow, subdued, or seismic, the landscapes of our lives seem to constantly shift. Just when it seems as if we gain a sense of stability, along comes another one of life’s surprises. From momentary confusion to excitement, to utter heartache, dealing with change can be bewildering, tripping us up and making it hard to find our way. Â
And yet change, and the subtle lessons that it brings about, is central to our human experience. Navigating transitions and discerning the way forward with courage and grace can open us up to the vitality we are meant to embody. The transition from one year to the next is traditionally a time for reflection, looking back, and looking ahead. Â
Join us in this two-part series, either side of the new year, based on the Courage & Renewal® approach, as we…
- Reflect on where we’ve been, exploring continuities and ruptures, discovering where and how we are experiencing current times of stability as well as uncertainty.
- Assess where we are now and where we might like to be, seeking ways to be fluid and adaptable when life’s terrain shifts.
- Consider what perceptions in our lives need to shift to accommodate what is here, and what is on the horizon.Â
- Tune in to our inner rhythms through a deeper exploration of our Courage & Renewal Touchstones, pressing the re-set button to recalibrate.
- Pause and creatively reflect in solitude and with others in a nurturing and trustworthy environment.
Geography of Change will be grounded in the Courage & Renewal® approach which you can learn more about in Parker J. Palmer’s book, A Hidden Wholeness. All are welcome.
If you are a newcomer to Circles of Trust® retreats, we have an additional hour-long time scheduled for Sunday, December 20 at 12:00 p.m. ET, during which you will be able to orient to the Courage & Renewal approach. Please make a note of this time when you register. Details forthcoming.
